A number of VI Form students have recently undergone a Mental Health First Aid training course through MHFA England in order to offer an additional avenue of support for younger pupils in the School who feel like they may benefit from having someone to talk to.

The VI Formers have been trained how to listen effectively and how to signpost pupils to appropriate additional sources of help if necessary. Mentors do not replace the School’s current levels of support and existing guidelines, but offer a friendly ear to those who may feel more comfortable initially discussing their concerns in a more informal manner.

Students who have completed the training will wear yellow mentor badges at School so all pupils can readily identify someone who they are able to go to for help.
